Product Overview
About Shiley Tracheostomy Tubes Models #LPC, #FEN, #CFS, #CFN and #LGT:
Shiley Tracheostomy Tubes are intended for use in providing tracheal access for airway management. The fenestrated devices (FEN, CFN) are also indicated when the use of fenestrations is desirable in order to safely and effectively wean a Tracheostomy patient. When used in conjunction with the Decanulation Plug (DCP), the fenestrated tracheostomy tube can provide a means of weaning and/or phonation for the patient. Use of the Decannulation Plug (DCP) with the fenestrated Tracheostomy tubes forces air through the fenestrations and around the tube, and into the upper airway and vocal cords.
Shiley Tracheostomy Tubes are double cannula tracheostomy tubes with reusable inner cannula (LPC, FEN, CFS, CFN, and LGT) and twist-lock connectors. These Shiley Tracheostomy Tubes have a radiopaque, biocompatible outer cannula constructed of polyvinyl chloride. A swivel neck plate allows conformity to individual neck anatomies. Shiley Tracheostomy Tubes (LPC, FEN, CFS, and CFN) are available In four sizes: 4, 6, 8, and 10. The Shiley Laryngectomy Tube (LGT) is available in three sizes: 6, 8. and 10. The reusable inner cannula with Integral white 15 mm twist-lock connector can be used for standard respiratory equipment and is translucent for easy Inspection. The smooth, rounded tip obturator facilitates insertion.
Shiley Tracheostomy Cuffed models (LPC, FEN) have a thin wall high volume, low pressure cuff to minimize pressure in the trachea. When inflated, the cuff conforms to the natural shape of the trachea providing a seal at low intracuff pressure. The cuff inflation line has a luer valve with an integral pilot balloon to indicate cuff inflation.
Shiley Fenestrated models (CFN, FEN) also feature a white 15 mm cap (CAP) and a reusable fenestrated inner cannula with green 15 mm twist-lock connector. These accessories can be used to facilitate phonation with or without ancillary speaking devices or for use during the weaning process. The fenestrated inner cannula with green 15 mm connector is not for use when mechanical ventilation is required.
Shiley Cuffless models (CFS, CFN, and LGT) also feature inner cannula with low-profile connection. This type of Inner cannula is designed to reduce tube protrusion at the neck but is not compatible with respiratory equipment.
The red Decannulation Plug (DCP) can be used to occlude the proximal end of the outer cannula, forcing the patient to breathe through the fenestrations and upper airway tract during the weaning process. The Decannulation Plug is available in all four sizes of the Shiley Tracheostomy Tubes and can be purchased separately.
CAUTION:The Shiley Tracheostomy Tube Is classified as a disposable medical device. The manufacturer recommends that the Tracheostomy Tube usage not exceed twenty-nine (29) days. Frequent and routine changes of the Tracheostomy Tube and accessories are recommended and should be evaluated by the attending physician.
