DeVilbiss Compact 5 Liter Oxygen Concentrator Product Overview
With reliability and functionality in mind, the
DeVilbiss 5 Liter Home Oxygen Concentrator is a legacy by itself with its innovative features, which makes it intuitive to the needs of its users.
Robust Yet Compact DesignThe DeVilbiss 5 Liter Oxygen Concentrator comes with a robust design that has been tested under high heat and humidity thus it can withstand prolonged use for extended periods of time. With a dimension of 2.4"x 13.5"x12" and a weight of only 36 pounds, the
DeVilbiss 5 Liter Oxygen Concentrator is compact, yet it can deliver a decent amount of quality and oxygen to the patient.
The
DeVilbiss 525DS Concentrator also features a two-piece cabinet design for better cooling process and sound quality. It comes with a rotary valve design so you don’t have to rotate the oxygen concentrator for ease of use. The recessed humidifier nook also protects the cannula as it becomes less prone to damage since it does not get caught on corners when moving from one room to the other.
The aim of the DeVilbiss 5 Liter Oxygen Concentrators' design is to provide convenience to both users and operators. It comes with both top and side handles so that the oxygen concentrator can easily be transferred from one point to the other.
Optimum PerformanceDespite that the
DeVilbiss 5 Liter Oxygen Concentrator is small, it has the capacity to deliver oxygen at a rate of 0.5 to 5 liters per minute at 8.5 PSI outlet pressure. The quality of oxygen is excellent at 93% purity. Effective delivery rate and outlet pressure are possible as this oxygen concentrator is equipped with the DeVilbiss Oxygen Sensing Device to ensure the reliability of air flow from the machine to the user. The internal components of this particular oxygen concentrator are also found in other bulkier yet popular DeVilbiss models like the 303 and 515A concentrators. Thus, the shared features allow easier maintenance or repair of the oxygen concentrator.
The
DeVilbiss 525DS It also comes with a user-friendly user panel that allows patients and operators to have full access to the control buttons and knobs. The control panel is also very simple and even first-time users can operate the machine effectively. Another important feature that contributes to the optimum performance of this oxygen concentrator is that it comes with a lockable flow meter. A lockable flow meter is used to precisely monitor the amount of oxygen that flows from the device to the user’s nostrils.
The lockable flow meter also makes this possible a perfect oxygen concentrator among pediatric patients. Pediatric patients require only a small amount of oxygen in order to sustain their breathing thus this particular feature allows the operator to adjust the flow delivery rate depending on the needs of the patient.
With optimum performance in mind, the DeVilbiss 5 Liter Oxygen Concentrator can accommodate a 50-foot oxygen tubing along with the cannula should there be any difficulty in moving the oxygen concentrator or the patient to another room and vice versa. This feature is really helpful especially if there are obstructions between the path of the oxygen concentrator and patient.
Safety FeaturesUsing an oxygen concentrator can involve some complications thus safety features are necessary. The
DeVilbiss 5 Liter Home Oxygen Concentrator has several fail-safe features that ensure the efficiency of the machine despite problems. The most important feature of the DeVilbiss 5 Liter Oxygen Concentrator is its alarm system. Alarms go off to indicate problems like power failure, a low or high pressure of oxygen, and other mechanical anomalies. The alarms of the DeVilbiss 5 Liter Oxygen Concentrator do not need any batteries in order to reduce the service and maintenance of the machine. They may be small but they allow users to determine whether this particular device is working properly or not.
Another safety feature of the DeVilbiss 5 Liter Oxygen Concentrator is the pressure-compensated flow meter. The flow meter measures the volume of gas that goes through the tube and cannula with the pressure-compensated flow meter, the values indicated in the flow display are real.
On the other hand, this particular oxygen concentrator also comes with a pressure-relief valve in case the volume of oxygen dispensed from the machine is too high. Relieving the excess pressure that has built up in the oxygen concentrator is important to protect the compressor and the internal parts of the device thus offering thermal protection. This is necessary as oxygen causes rapid burning thus the parts are made from materials that offer optimum thermal protection in case of such situations occurring. Aside from thermal protection, it also comes with an outlet fitting that prevents the fire from spreading into and within the unit.
Speaking of thermal protection, the body of this particular oxygen concentrator is made from a flame-retardant material so that it does not get burned in case the internal temperature of the components increases. But just in case, it comes with double insulation and a two-prong plug for added protection and safety.
Care and MaintenanceThe DeVilbiss 5 Liter Oxygen Concentrator features a two-piece cabinet design not only for better cooling process and sound quality but also for easy care and maintenance. The exterior cabinet can be cleaned with a damp cloth or sponge before wiping it dry. A common household cleaner can be used to clean the oxygen concentrator. Avoid using any types of grease, lubricants, or oil when cleaning the machine. On the other hand, the concentrator cabinet should only be removed by a qualified technician.
It is also important to take note that the air filter, as well as the connector, should be cleaned at least once a week. This can be done by removing the air filter and oxygen outlet connector and washing them in a solution of warm water and household detergent. Rinsing these parts to remove the soap is necessary before it is hung to dry.

FAQ
DeVilbiss Compact 5 Liter Oxygen Stationary Concentrator FAQ:
1) What percentage of oxygen does the 525 concentrator deliver?
A:Over the range of 1—5 Litres per min the 525 provides 93% oxygen +/- 3%. This purity has been tested to be clinically acceptable for long-term oxygen therapy.
2) How often should I clean filters and other accessories?
A: The air filter and oxygen outlet connector should be removed and washed once a week. Use warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly and air dry. The bubble humidifier should be washed daily using a mild detergent and hot water.
3) Can I use a low flow meter with the 525 concentrator?
A:Yes, please contact our technical service department for further information.
4) What is the best way to transport a 525 concentrator in the car?
A: It is not recommended to put the 525 in a boot of the car as this involves tipping the unit. The best place is on a back seat secured with the seat belt or wedged between the front and back seats.
5) Can I use my 525 oxygen concentrator overseas?
A:First you must check the voltage of the unit you have and the voltage of the country that you are visiting. DeVilbiss manufacture two units 525DS for 110V countries and 525KS for 240V countries. If you need anymore advice please contact our technical service department
6) What is Turn Down technology?
A: The 525 concentrator incorporates Turn Down technology. The PC board constantly monitors the flow rate and will decrease the cycle time whenever the flow rate is less than 2.5 LPM. Therefore it "turns down” the cycle based on the lower oxygen demand. As a result the unit runs cooler and less power is consumed. This results in potential energy savings for the patient and extended life of the unit.
7) How can I tell if the oxygen purity is good?
A: As long as the green O2 light is illuminated, the 525 is delivering the correct purity of oxygen. If the purity drops below a certain level, the yellow O2 light will be illuminated. You may continue to use the 525 even though the yellow light is on, but you should quickly find an alternative oxygen source. If the purity continues to drop, the red service light will illuminate and you should immediately find an alternative oxygen source.
8) What is the difference between the 525ds and the 525ds-Q noise level?
A: The sound difference is 48 dBA (525DS) and 46 dBA (525DS-Q).
